What are you talking about?! There is no "uber" armor that can make one better in combat - that's the beauty of GW! 15k and fissure armor sets have EXACTLY the same stats as the cheap Droknar's armor, and desert collector's armor has the same AL, and you get it for free.

And why are collector's weapons "poor"? They have the same maxed stats as PvP weapons (starting from the desert collectors)! All you need to do is to add upgrades on warrior weapons, staves, and bows, everything else already comes maxed. If you don't have a character who can visit the desert and Shiverpeaks collector's, ask a guildie to get you the weapons you need (check GuildWiki's site for what collector gives what weapons).

That obviously means you have to read PvP forums and get better at PvP, but it most definitely has nothing to do with your gear. Having a gold 15>50 stormbow instead of a PvP bow on your PvP character does not make one better at PvP, really
If you meant PvE - it's very much possible to play wearing collector's armor - 2 of my PvE toons had jungle collector's armor sets when they arrived at the desert.

I too love to help newbs (maybe it is a mis-used term, but Im not ashamed to use it in reference to myself when it is the truth of the matter) however, if they have read your (generous) offer then the chances are they have already made the biggest leap toward not becoming a noob, and that is to read forums!...

it may not sound right, but the best peice of advice you can offer anyone is to tell them straight away to sign up to gwguru or gwonline, and check them EVERYDAY!...

the information on these sites, and the willingness to help is unlike any game I've played....

Helping someone do a mission, does not help them at all, giving someone items and gold for free.. does not help them... because they will become dependent on that help!

Its like helping third world countries.. you can give them all the money and the food in the world, but until you clear the debt they will forever be dependant on you.

I'm a strong beleiver of not helping new players but rather, pointing them in the right direction!.. if they refuse to walk the path themselves, or want you to hold their hand, then they are not worth your time.

"Uber" is defined as the ultimate, above all, the best, top.

The 15k and fissure armor are the best in the game right? They are much better than my current Courtly Armor (from Yak's Bend with AL30). If I have 15k or fissure, the higher AL will allow me to survive longer in battles. If I survive longer, then I can fight for longer and fare better than I do now. I didn't mean to imply that higher AL armour will make me a better player in combat.

I was referring to items from collectors who I have come across so far. As I've progressed in the game, the collectors in the new towns I reach seem to offer better stuff. Therefore, it makes sense that at towns later on in the storyline, the collectors will provide better stuff than what I have now.

Since I haven't reached the desert yet, I wouldn't know collector items have the same maxed stats as PvP weapons starting from there.......now I know.

lol...my guildies are new players like me. We have little gold and enjoy the hardship of slogging through the game.

No, they differ only in appearance from the fairly affordable 1.5k armours at Droknar's Forge, which is only slightly better than the collector armour available in the desert (no gold needed).

Yes, but so is collector armour.

Yup - you can have max gear basically for free. The Drok's armour is a bit better than the collector, but really the 1.5k per piece isn't too hard to accumulate that late in the game.

No, teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Silliness aside, I completely agree with you.

And how do you think all the r6/9+ got their ranks...by whining?
Most r9+ players got there by spirit spamming followed by abusing ether renewal, and a good number will even admit to it.

I do agree that the r3 and even the r6 emotes are becomming worthless due to IWAY, but IWAY only works due to the number of profoundly stupid teams around. If you go into tombs at the moment you should expect to find some IWAY teams. If you didnt build in counters, who's fault is that.

As for things being more difficult for beginners - not really. Tombs has always been about getting some good contacts on your f/list. It has always been the case that a new player has to play in loads of useless groups before he gets on his feet, but once he gets a few decent contacts, he's well on his way.

The biggest problem most new players have(and a good portion of older players) is that they just simply aren't very good. Good players can recognise other good players fairly easily, and once this happens, your rank will be irrelevant.

My best advice for new players in tombs is to stay in their home districts, and if they cant find a group, start one. For others, my advice is to stop joining groups based on rank, and look at guild tags. The large majority of skilled PvPers are now almost entirely GvG based, and the guild tag will likely tell you far more than a rank emote ever will.

Bah, the real fame farming from ether renewal abuse came before spirit spam was ever big.

20000 faction eh? I'd like to see that since the cap is at 10000. I smell a bit of a fib here. hehe

{which is only slightly better than the collector armour available in the desert (no gold needed). }

Only the Plate is slightly better by 5 Armor points and that is only vs elemental attacks. Melee wise the armor in the desert is just the same as gladiator armor which is 5 Armor points better than Plate vs physical. So when you fight someone in plate make sure you use a non-elemental weapon (no fire, cold, earth, etc etc. dmg grips on it)

If you move your cursor over faction, it lists your total faction earned (including the points spent). I had 60k faction before I even got into Tombing.

Using the word HAVING vs EARNING is quite a different statement. He said " I HAVE 20000 faction" he didn't say he EARNED 20000 faction.

Who the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO says, "I earned 20,000 faction"? It's assumed having = earning.
